You don’t fight waves of xenomorphs with assault rifles or play as the Predator. Alien Isolation is unlike any other game based on the popular sci-fi franchise. How scary can an alien be? You just hide and run to an exit. This is a Resident Evil play in every way that matters. But everything else before that is top shit. It’s a damn masterpiece of suspense and horror.
If you haven’t played yet RE7 anyway and you are looking for a great scary game then stop reading this blog and start playing RE7. And if you really want to get scared to play Downfall 3, I highly recommend playing the VR port of the game released on PSVR earlier this year.Īs I scoured Game Pass’s vast library of games looking for spooky titles, I was shocked to see Resident Evil 7 here. Downfall 3 also has a disturbing (in a good way!) sound design. But as its own thing, and not a sequel to Downfall 2, (whatever it is, but only in name…) I think Downfall 3 is fantastic! The use of shadows and darkness is excellent and hides demons and other threats behind the darkness. I know some people hate Downfall 3 for valid reasons. Like it RE4, the evil within combines third-party action with scary situations, eerie locations and puzzles. Shinji Mikami, who was director of multiple Resident Evil games included RE4, directed the first game and was an executive producer of the sequel. It’s not as good as those first two entries, but it’s still an eerie adventure through a snowy hellscape.Īlthough I prefer the sequel, both The evil within and The evil within 2 are scary survival horror games that will probably remind you of Resident Evil 4. While I know a lot of love Dead space 1 and 2, I would recommend giving 3 also a chance. But if you want to experience (or replay) the original Empty space trilogy, they are all available on Game Pass. Of course we get a new remake of the original Empty space. But if you can tolerate the bad things from? The medium, it’s a decent one Silent Hill-like horror game. Be warned: There is some annoying, uncomfortable content in this horror adventure with static cameras.
Perhaps you long for a more classic horror game, one that focuses on slow scares and puzzles? if, The medium maybe perfect for you. And Back 4 Blood, a co-op shooter very similar to Left 4 Dead, let you experience that fear alone or with friends But enough of them, spitting acid at you or attacking your friends in the middle of a dark forest is still scary. Zombies aren’t the scariest in the world these days, thanks in large part to the number of movies, shows, and games that rely on the undead.
